FAQ’s

How much does it cost?

Tutoring Helps® charges a competitive hourly rate that is consistent with professionally trained supplemental education tutoring companies. The total cost will vary according to how often your child receives tutoring services. Most students attend a minimum of a 1-hour class per week, equaling about 4 hours of instruction a month.

Do you provide references?

Yes. Our greatest pride comes from parents expressing their satisfactions with our tutoring services. Several are published on the website. If requested, we will provide you with direct communication of parents whose children have enrolled with us.

What are your teaching hours?

Tutoring services are provided at the resident’s home where an adult must be present also. The hours are agreed upon by the parent and the tutor.

How big are the classes?

All classes are individual unless otherwise agreed upon by the tutor and parents.

Are the tutors trained teachers?

Yes—all of our tutors have worked in schools as teacher’s aides, teachers, principals, or in another capacity of actual teaching.

What if my child doesn’t like his/her program?

Talk to us! If your child is struggling with our programs, please let us know. Our aim is to make Tutoring Helps® a fun and engaging place to learn for every student, and if your child is unhappy, we’ll work to fix whatever the problem is.

We work on an “at will” basis meaning that both you and Tutoring Helps may cancel services at any time for any reason.

What is your cancellation policy?

We ask to have 24-hour notice if your child is not able to attend scheduled lessons.

How long does it take until my child sees success?

This answer has many variables. It depends mostly on what your goals are for your child and what your definition of success is.

For some parents, success is being able to read and understand written paragraphs without fighting, for others it’s getting an A plus on a science exam.

Each child’s goals are unique, and for that reason, the answer will depend on you and your child.

In many cases, you will see improvement in performance after just a few lessons. Many teachers will offer comments about your child that should reflect well on your investment in tutoring.

How much do children typically improve?

How much a child improves depends entirely on the learning objectives and the child’s learning pace. It also depends on how frequently your child receives services from us.

The biggest indicator of improvement usually comes from something that can’t easily be measured—how a child feels about school and learning. Usually after a few classes (and after the initial jitters have worn off) students start to feel better about school and learning. They are more motivated, and more confident. Struggles become fewer, and attitudes about school improve. To many parents, this is the best improvement of all.

How do I enroll my child?

It’s simple to enroll your child. Simply contact us through the “Contact Us” form on this website and we will return your call promptly.

Will my child have any fun?

Fun is built right into your child’s program! We high-five, we applaud, and we really do get silly with some of the younger students. We want kids to understand that learning can be exciting and enjoyable, even when it requires hard work. So, we play while learning. We interact. We sketch. We act things out. We celebrate. We do whatever it takes to ensure that your child learns better.

PLEASE NOTE

If tutoring is done in your home, a parent MUST be present at all times. Arrangements can also be made to have lessons taught in a public setting like the library or other space that is comfortable and agreed upon.  All students are taken as “at-will” clients and services made be cancelled at any time by either party for any reason.
